Personally I love all creatures of the Universe. Africa hosts many famous species, and hidden treasures.
Unfortunately, big business is at it again, and are carving this pie up for mineral profit.
I will die to keep innocent people safe.
I have a plan:
The Nile is a lucky thing.
We can simply add to it, and create reservoirs. That will be enough to irrigate the eastern shoreline.
1) desalination, a cumbersome process, but could be used to generate salt revenue.
2) A man made pool with no living creatures we can shoot a microwave gun at. Sounds ridiculous but its actually a great way to throw up clouds. If we charge it with solar panels throughout the day, and give nature a rainfall pattern, its the kickstart we need to throw some shade on the desert.
3) Cloud Seeding, not a great method from what i have read, but may be needed to squeeze the rain out of the clouds we make. We may be able to seed in the water we use with a fertilizing mineral or nitrogen poured from the sky. Plants love nitrogen, and why i plan to use bean plants to produce a ton in the soil.
4) Volcanic steam. Yes, create a mini volcano. There are spots where the crust is thin, and we could use a tunneling project to pipe a small amount of magma to the surface that would boil consistently for ages. Could also help reduce volcanic activity globally by taking pressure off. We take so much water and mineral from the soil as it is, I am ok with a man made volcano to set things back to normal.
5) A giant plastic cover over the red sea that collects the evaporated water on it and runs down into a trough. This is stupid, but the kind of ideas we want to throw around. After all, the best ideas came from scientific mistakes. :)
6) Drones. Move soil, aerate, irrigate, all on an autonomous system. Only have to stop if the wind is over 18mph ;). Clay is a super absorbent material, and we have a lot of it. If we can dig into a good mountain and airlift a good layer of topsoil on the land, its shouldn't take much to get it started.
17) Plant types- Beans, Millet, anything common around Africa and super resilient. Then once the sand is ripened into good soil, we plant trees. Cacti, and other desert species are a great way to start. Populating animals will also churn the earth and add minerals through droppings :).
8) Chad! There is a mountain range in the north of chad. If we can pipe glacial water from below, and turn it into clouds, they should turn into rain on the mountain, makes streams, mother nature baby.
9) We may have to develop resilient plant life near Saudi Arabia as well, or the dry air may kill our progress. Hopefully they will join our cause. That eastward coastal barrier starts the moisture across the entire continent. In south Saudi Arabia, the mountains grab the ocean jet stream and turn it towards a mountain range in Ethiopia that then floats over south sudan. That jet stream could be turned north if we lower a mountain range.
**The Idea is that the forest will continually overtake the desert ecosystem. We build both, and thus bolster the populations of both habitats simultaneously. If a rattle snake can stop rattling to hide from being eating by pigs, i think the animals can adapt to more food and water ;). Hopefully we can bring some desert species into the jungle ecosystem.**
Potential Problems:
1) The dry air coming off the desert keeps Atlantic hurricanes from forming. Or, does it prevent a couple until the water gets so warm a mega storm forms? We are playing god here, and we better be ready with some Hurricane reduction tactics before we cause some monster storms. (Build a mountain range that is in a Y shape to send air in different directions rather than one strong current around Mauritania.
2) The pressure of the earth can cause plate shifting. Obviously a disaster. We are already causing this, so we need to turn it into an advantage while stabilizing. I am not sure much happens with our plates unless a massive meteorite strikes, so we are probably ok unloading a mountain worth of lava like Hawaii with minimal change to the earth.
3) Overheat- Massive vegetation and insulation to the earth could be good or bad. If the sand is reflecting energy, the forest may contain it and heat the planet. When you cover a continent with trees, the weather planet wide is going to shift. Having our mountain crushing and building strategies will help.
--A) Mountain Crushing is easy, drill holes through it and send a few heavy storms to wash it down. Add some massive fireworks for the people to celebrate :)
--B) Mountain Building-
------1) Volcano, which can help with the air and soil or hurt depending what we need and population.
------2) Drone System- We need a bunch anyway with the soil project. They are the motorcycles of planes, we should be able to move quickly with a robotic container loading system. This is better because it is safer. the energy would be from a microreactor charging batteries. Plenty of minerals in Africa, right?
No matter what strategy, and we have many- We will find it with small scale trial and error, along with a trove of this history and information I am not privy to I'm sure.
I have been looking at the weather patterns, and we may have some luck here and there from mother nature.
No Pun intended, we need to plant the seeds for the future, now.
The process will be long, but if we can change the landscape of North Africa, and give it to people, the needy, we can change one of the largest swaths of land central to all, into a paradise that preserves and produces for the world. We must protect the wildlife, so what we build for infrastructure will integrate into the landscape we create, based on what animals need help surviving as a species.
We need a group of people to push this message into the Universe, and it needs to be a peaceful one. as we expand, and create colonies in space, how will they govern themselves if not through love, being so far away? It is a wild west of a much larger plain, and we need to start setting the foundation of who we are as a species strong. We have made mistakes growing into this world we live in now. But, with all the power to blow the earth up, not one group has managed to yet. That gives me hope we can make it to space, and ensure our progress is not lost because we are trapped on this rock, unable to escape if things go badly from an asteroid, or anything really as we float around this treacherous universe without a paddle.
Humans have gone from living in the wild to civilization. Time for the next chapter.
Ya know, Star Trek shit.
If enough people walk on a small enough patch of grass, it dies. there is an equilibrium we must achieve, and we can find a way. If we have to build only tree houses in Africa to get it done, so be it.
I personally think we do not have enough humans, for what journey we are about to embark on.
We must bring balance on Earth through some good ol human ingenuity.
We The People, are tasked with this duty, privilege, and honor to restore balance- and be as important as we all crave to be. let's build it together. I'm thinkin of a master plan.
